Passing by a fence, I noticed this written on it: I don't know what to make of it. Is the author too happy? So sad? Being poetic? Just playing with whomever decides to stop and read? I'm going with teenage angst. I absolutely LOVE to see when ice wraps itself around tree branches and such

Went to the Liffey's with friends last night to see a band I've never heard of. I don't have enough experience photographing indoors with low light so I figured I'd work my camera a little. No flash. Most of my shots stunk. These I liked. I dig the sewing machine tables the light surrounded by the dark a bit of movement
Well it looks like I'm going to keep getting opportunities to take pictures of snow. It snowed yesterday, and there's more on the way. I mean, we get a little break in between but not enough of one. I know, "Wah wah wah...get over it!" I'm trying. On the bright side, there were so many scenes I wanted to capture on the way to and from work (some I did and a few have been posted). What is it that's so appealing about snow? Is it the fluffies? Maybe because we don't live in it 24/7 so it's a change of pace for some of us? Because it's a blanket of white over everything?
When I first saw snow, it came down in little flakes, like ashes, and I thought "that's IT? that's snow? Puh!" From pictures on postcards I'd expected it all to come down at once, looking neat and pretty...Little did I know! It just keeps coming. This time it was just a dusting but even some southern states got some (a rare treat and a curse I can imagine). The Canadians are probably laughing at us. If I could dress this set, I'd fill the snow back in where it was shoveled away. "Gofer! more snow over here!". Regardless, circles make me happy.
I passed this on the way to work on Thursday but didn't have time to stop as I was sure I was going to miss my ride, but came prepared on Friday with my little digital (no sucky camera phone for this one)...and really, where were these icy gems going to go in this freezer that was promised for the next week at least? No it's not a new camera.
Found this while helping my mom clean out her basement. Zenith laptop computer with a whopping 40MB hard drive at the very low price of $2999.99. The catalog is from 1989! Whoa Nelly! Dammit Jim! I caved and took the gosh-darned moon pic a couple of days ago. Just...couldn't...help...myself. Anyhoo I used my phone's camera (which I need to learn more about so I can take better pictures with it). Took this one this morning of a bench with little icicles on it.
I saw a beautiful moon last night while heading home. I was really tempted to take YET another moon pic with my phone but fought the urge. I thought "this time I will just remember it as I saw it". Of course that means I have to write about it.
It looked full or near full with that fuzzy glow around it. Telephone lines crossed through my view of the scene but it was still beautiful. Hate is too strong a word for how I feel about winter, let's just say I dislike it a lot. Mostly because it's cold. I can hear the comments: "then why don't you move to a warmer climate?", "well you shouldn't be living HERE" blah blah blah.
I will say this about wintertime though, it provides great opportunities to get some cool shots. I love the first snow and walking in it and when there is ice stuck to walls and icicles hanging from bus stop roofs. I don't do justice with these pictures, but so it is. |
